Before you start

A signed-in account, to save and publish what you build. Guests can try limited edits with free Sparks but cannot save or publish.

Steps

Open the “Preview” tab in the top bar, or press Ctrl+2 (Cmd+2 on a Mac). [Unverified]
The build chat is on the left under the heading “Keen Builder”. Type what you want into the box at the bottom — “Describe the app, site, dashboard, or tool you want to build…”. [Unverified]
Four sample builds are listed as cards above the box. Clicking one sends it immediately, rather than filling the box.
Press Enter. The right-hand pane holds the preview; it says “Your build will appear here” until there is something to show. [Unverified]
Builds take one to three minutes. The existing preview is protected while a new build runs, so a failure does not wipe what you already had.
To get a plan before any code is written, switch the header control from “Build” to “Plan” before you send. Keen outlines the approach first, then offers a “Build it →” button. [Unverified]
In Plan mode a line above the box reads “Plan mode — AI will outline a plan before writing code”. The build starts automatically after a short countdown shown on the button, or immediately if you click it.
When the build lands, the preview renders it. Use the ↗ button in the preview's toolbar to open it in a new tab. [Unverified]
Name the project: the button at the top left of the header shows the project title, and the header shows “saving…” while it writes. [Unverified]
A project row is created on the first successful save, not before — so a build you abandon does not leave an empty project behind.

What it costs

A build is a model call and is charged in Sparks like any other. The Usage panel in the left rail shows your plan and balance without leaving Preview.

The left rail

The rail groups the build console into Build (Overview, AI, Source, Edge functions, Files), Data (Storage, Secrets, Cloud, Users), Ops (Logs, Usage, Analytics, Security, Payments) and Scale.

Two slots are reserved rather than built: “Media” is marked Soon and “Output” is marked Pro Max. They are disabled and carry the badge — they are placeholders in the layout, not features waiting for you to find them.

Starting over

“+ New project” at the top of the rail clears the current build, resets the chat and leaves one line in it confirming the reset. It does not delete the project you were on — open it again from the project button in the header.
